In order to determine in advance whether students are eligible to attend the school, private schools in the UK will choose to require students to take the Common Pre-test (11+ and 13+ unified entrance exams) when the students are Year 6-7 (10-11 years old). Students must take the test at the school they are applying for or the school they are attending. The duration of the exam is about 2.5 hours and can be completed at one time or divided into several times. Many top British independent schools will adopt Common Pre-test.
